What we can help with
Corrections, gaps in a guide, and questions about how something we published applies to a different part of the country.
- Corrections. If a number or a procedure on this site is wrong, tell us which page and what the correct figure is. We will fix it and say in the guide what changed.
- Gaps. If you looked for something here and it was not written, that is useful to know. Several guides exist because somebody asked.
- Regional questions. Our experience covers Missouri, Alabama and New Mexico. If your county behaves differently, we would rather hear it than guess.
What we cannot help with
Anything urgent. If something is happening right now, contact your utility, your county emergency management office, or 911.
We also do not review products sent to us, do not accept sponsored posts, and do not publish guest articles. There are no affiliate links on this site, so there is nothing to pitch.
Before you write about an outage in progress
Call the utility first. Their outage line knows things we never will, including whether a crew is already on your road. We are a place to read on an ordinary Tuesday, not during the event.
