How to Survive Any Situation

Posted on May 28, 2016 By sandy No Comments on How to Survive Any Situation

In this article I am going to give you some simple ways what you need to know to stay safe in any number of situations.
.

Panic is one of the most dangerous parts of any survival situation

Panic is one of the most dangerous parts of any survival situation, so if you’re able to calmly assess your predicament and work out your next steps, you’ll be able to head off a wild rush to get out of wherever you are (and possibly into a much worse situation). Unless you know exactly where you are, you’re probably much better off staying put until you can either be rescued, or you have a better idea which direction to head (and have assembled some protective sun gear to shade you during travel. strike out on your own, you and your family, avoiding the main thoroughfares at all cost, and avoiding the crowds.)

You have a place (Shelter)

(Learn how to do anything)

A well built shelter will protect you from the sun, insects, wind, rain, snow, extremes in temperature even possibly hide your location. A shelter can give you a feeling of security and give you a big boost mentally.
Finding shade or constructing a shade shelter is one of the first priorities for survival. Before building your shelter take the time to survey you situation and think through where to build it before you just jump in and start rushing helter skeltor to get it done.
Avoid: building next to dead trees that might fall. flash flood areas. avalanche or rock-slide areas in mountains. building below the high water mark.

Finding water

(Learn how to do anything)
Finding water is a top priority in the wild. An adult can survive only a few days without water, but many weeks without food.
Dehydration
About 3/4 of the human body is water. Your body loses 0.5-1 gallon (2-3 liters) of water each day through sweating and urination, more if you are hot, exerting a lot of energy or are at high altitudes. This water must be replaced. Therefore, drink often.
Finding water is critical, if not, dehydration will inevitably occur. The symptoms you will face are thirst, weakness, decreased mental capacity, nausea, no appetite and dark colored urine.
To prevent water loss, rest, keep cool, stay in the shade, and seek shelter. Do not wait until you run out of water before you look for more. Your body doesn’t only get water from drinking water. Lots of foods contain water, good examples are fruit and vegetables, and any non-water fluid. However, avoid fatty foods, caffeinated beverages and alcohol as they trigger digestion to use up the fluids.
Water purification
There are three ways to treat suspected water: filtration, boiling and chemical water purification.
· Filtering water doesn’t purify it, but it reduces particles and sediment and makes the water taste better.
· Boiling is the most certain way of killing all microorganisms. However, boiling will NOT neutralize chemical pollutants.
· To purify water with chemicals, use water purification tablets that should be included in your survival kit.

Make a Fire

(Learn how to do anything)
Have a high knowledge about fire, the uses of it, and firewood types.
Fire has three principle uses in a survival situation:

  • Cooking
  • Signaling
  • Warmth

Wood used for a fire can be broken into the following categories:
Tinder – Dry and fluffy wood shavings, cedar bark, or even dryer lint.
Kindling – Small twigs and splinters of wood.
Fuel wood – Branches smaller than your wrist. Logs – Not used in any survival scenarios but nice for cabins.

Starting a Fire

(Learn how to do anything)
Gather wood for the fire. You have to have enough tinder, kindling, and fuel wood. The wood should not be wet or live. Using wet or live materials for fire starting will result in more smoke than fire, so leaves should be avoided at all costs. To test whether the wood is good for fire or not, make sure that when you break the wood, it breaks cleanly. If the wood bends, it is not good for burning.
Clear the ground in a large circle where your fire will be. The circle should be at least a 3 meter
Place rocks in a small circle in the center to make the fire ring. They should be big rocks, about 2-4 times larger than your fist. These will prevent the fire from spreading. Always when you make an outdoor fire, rocks should be placed around it.

First Aid

(Learn how to do anything)
This is honestly something you should never attempt, and hopefully you’re never in a situation that would call for you to perform first aid on a lung puncture—but hey, knowledge is power. A sucking chest wound is a type of wound that penetrates through the chest wall and into the lung. Because of the extra lung hole, air can escape through the chest with a distinctive “sucking” sound (hence the name).
Needless to say, sucking chest wounds are usually fatal unless they’re treated immediately—and when you’re thousands of miles from the nearest hospital, you’d think that would be bad news.
But here’s what you can do: find a piece of plastic (saran wrap is perfect) with which you can seal the hole, so that the chest cavity around the lung doesn’t get more air pressure than the lung itself. If this happens, the lung will collapse. When you seal the hole, leave a flap at the bottom that will allow air to leave through the wound without entering it. This may seem useless now, but you never know—you might have to save someone’s life someday.

Self-Defense

(Learn how to do anything)
If you can’t defend yourself without a knife or a gun, what will you do when you don’t have access to them?
Yes, the best way to go about it is to learn a martial art (such as Krav Magawhich has a lot of “natural movements” such as kicking and punching) but you don’t have to.
At the very least you should know the most sensitive body parts of the human body and practice ways to hit them. You won’t be able to kill your attacker but you might gain precious seconds that will allow you to flee.
The eyes, the ear, the neck, the nose, and the groin are the places you’re most likely to cause the most damage if you hit.
Another important thing you could learn is using everyday items as weapons. Your house keys, a pen, a mug, and even dirt can successfully be used against an attacker that’s even bigger and stronger than you.
