If an armed society is a polite society, then the state government in Texas has just made a very deferential population.
The latest gun law that was passed on September first in Texas seems like an unlikely win considering the state of affairs, however, it has come to pass.
Gun owners and supporters throughout the state are rejoicing in new freedom.
The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed! All over the state of Texas preppers are looking around and considering how the new Texas gun law will affect preppers.
What is the New Texas Gun Law?
HB Bill 1927 was enacted as the Firearms Carry Act on September 1st, 2021.
In short, the bill states that anyone who is 21 years or older and can legally possess a firearm, is allowed to carry a said firearm without a permit.
So, it basically permits less carry for all legal gun owners.
relating to provisions governing the carrying of a firearm by a person who is 21 years of age or older and not otherwise prohibited by state or federal law from possessing the firearm and to other provisions related to the carrying, possessing, transporting, or storing of a firearm or other weapon; creating criminal offenses.
How is it Good for Preppers?
EDC or Everyday Carry is a big part of being a prepper. The items that you carry on a day-to-day basis have everything to do with your level of preparedness.
Most preppers either carry a firearm on their person or in a bag as part of their EDC if it is legal. I bet plenty carry in places that it’s illegal, too!
The biggest cities in America tend to have a problem with people being able to defend themselves and it should be no surprise that in those cities there are incredibly high rates of crime.
HB 1927 in Texas gives preppers the right to outfit themselves in any way they see fit with any gun or guns!
That is a bit of a game-changer. Carrying around that SBR or AR Pistol in a backpack might be the new move for a Texas prepper.
2nd Amendment Protections
You do not have to pass the BAR to understand that our 2nd Amendment is under near-constant pressure from legislators.
They are slowly chipping away our right to keep and bear arms. It’s ugly but it’s happening all the time.
Whether we see things like Red Flag laws or the banning of certain types of firearms, it’s clear that gun violence is a problem most representatives believe we can legislate away.
They are willing to sacrifice the second amendment to prove it.
When a gun law, like this one, is signed into law it’s a win for 2A, and we need as many of those as possible!
Look, guns are the great equalizer and I think a piece of the puzzle that’s left out is how important carrying firearms is for women in general but women preppers, too.
Men and women are different. If we are only talking about bone density, structure, muscle, and strength.
When one woman can pull out a firearm and defend herself, that is a victory for society, the second amendment, and even feminism!
However, when the norm becomes a majority of women proficient with and carrying firearms to protect themselves, that has an effect. That is the kind of culture that can affect victimization.
How is it Bad for Preppers?
Though an armed society is a peaceful society, that doesn’t make an officer’s job any easier.
Police interactions are always strange but if police know that everyone might be armed it could be a bad thing not just for preppers but for the police themselves.
They will have to have serious confidence in the people they are policing in order to be effective while still protecting their lives and others.
There are big cities in Texas that suffer from all the same big-city problems. That makes it hard on preppers.

Self Defense Situations
As preppers, we are always concerned with things like situational awareness and self-defense. Just as police make mistakes and shoot people when they are under serious pressure, imagine yourself in a situation where an altercation begins between you and another person.
Imagine they reach down to pull up their pants while they are yelling at you, and you assume they have a gun because of this new law.
Are you trained enough to not panic and pull your own firearm?
There is nothing standing between you and the untrained. There is nothing standing between you and an armed individual who has been driven towards some vengeful vigilance and might actually be a threat even when they assume they are doing good.
A simple concept like KNOW YOUR TARGET AND WHAT’S BEYOND IT is lost on a person who is untrained. They may not understand that FMJ ammo can go through a person and hit someone else. They may take a precarious shot at a bad guy and miss, hitting a person BEYOND THE TARGET.
While HB1927 is a victory for the 2nd Amendment there will be untrained people carrying firearms in Texas and that can be a danger to all of us if we are honest.
The 5 Worst States for Gun Owners
Though obtaining a permit to carry in this state is easier in rural Massachusetts it’s still a “may issue” state and people in Boston are gonna have a real struggle getting one of their own. You will need a license to buy any firearm or ammo in this state and that is as ugly as anything you are going to find on this list.
Assault weapons are banned in MA as are magazines that carry over 10 rounds of ammunition. A sad state for the birthplace of the American Revolution.
A Bastian of liberal ideology it should come as no surprise to anyone that the gun rights in this state are some of the worst in the nation. The gun owners in this state face aggression both from politicians bent on crushing the 2nd amendment as well as the citizens are just as antigun. It is such a mess that Remington’s arms are headed out of the state with their operation.
The NY SAFE Act that followed the Sandy Hook Shooting ratcheted up the level of gun restrictions in the State. There were no grandfathered magazines above 30 rounds, assault weapons definitions have widened drastically. New York has taken and will take every action to stifle 2nd Amendment rights. They also have the people’s support.
We all use the sad and brutal crime in Chicago as ammunition against gun laws. Illinois requires the dreaded FOID. This is a firearms owner identification card and it is required in the state before you are allowed to buy guns or ammunition.
If you jump through the hoops to buy a handgun you are going to wait 3 days after your purchase to get that gun and you are going to deal with a “shall issue” state if you wish to carry that handgun concealed.
Maryland has been so tough on gun owners that they chased the firearms producer, Beretta, out of the state!
This state has followed, lockstep, with all the radical proposed gun restriction laws of recent years. You will need to give the state police your fingerprints if you hope to buy any firearm, you will not be allowed to have magazines with more than 10 rounds in them and all “assault weapons” are banned.
Their concealed carry permit process is one of the toughest in the nation. So, after you go through all the steps to buy a gun you will likely just have to hide it in your safe to satisfy the state.
It should come as no surprise that the liberal headquarters known as California made this list. Our criteria above talked about legislation and representation. This state seems to have representatives that pride themselves in their restrictive laws.
Because of this leadership, you find hostility toward gun owners in many areas. Firearms producers are often forced to create “California Approved” versions of their guns. Of course, like Maryland’s effect, many gun owners are just running away from the state.
A 10-day waiting period, banning of all “assault weapons” and the 10 round magazine rules, are more reasons that the sunny state of California is nothing short of prison for gun owners.
The 5 Best States for Gun Owners
The southwestern region of the nation has been all the news lately. Nestled along the southern border is a state that stands out as an absolute paradise for gun owners in the modern age. I am talking about the state of Arizona.
Arizona is home to one of the best shooting cultures in the nation. It’s something to behold. From people shooting recreationally to those who train others and shoot professionally, Arizona is a great home for gun owners.
Guns and Ammo have named Arizona the #1-gun state for the last 5 years. This has a lot to do with the things mentioned above but also because of the right to carry concealed or not and Castle Doctrine rules that allow it, citizens, to defend themselves.
The last true American frontier, Alaska offers up freedoms that are no longer offered in the lower 38. These freedoms expand far beyond gun ownership. Alaskans are allowed to carry weapons in almost all cases. They can carry concealed or open without the need for any permit from the state. The only real law that affects that is if a person is intoxicated.
Alaska also offers some of the most impressive lands for hunting and shooting. The outdoor recreational opportunities are built for the gun owner.
Stunning, natural beauty and permissive gun laws tend to go hand in hand in the west. Utah is one of the most beautiful states in all the nation and its gun laws are just as appealing. They share the right to carry laws of places like Alaska and Arizona.
They operate under a two mechanical actions rule. This means you can carry but without a round in the chamber means you need to chamber a round (1.) and fire that round by pulling the trigger (.2)
The legislation and representation are decidedly pro-gun and that goes a long way for gun owners.
Kansas has recently moved to permitless carry-on all accounts. They were trying to recognize out-of-state permits, but it died in the legislative process. Though they lack the strong support of citizenry and don’t share in the support of shooting support it’s easy to understand why this state is a great option for gun owners.
While it might not come up on your radar, Wyoming is a near blueprint of what a favorable gun owner’s state should look like. The law is on your side if you stand and defend yourself with a firearm, it’s a permit-less carry state and recognizes the permits of all other states. The hunting and shooting culture is massive and that is another check for the good.
Wyoming is what we all should strive for in a gun-owning state.
With another powerful push for an increase in National Gun Control, it is very important that we empower the states to not only oppose the radical national regulations but to allow the people of those states to take advantage of their second amendment rights.
It is good to see people leaving these states that tax them to death and restrict their gun ownership. It means the citizenry is paying attention and these states will pay the price as taxes on guns, hunting, fishing licenses, and of course the population of working Americans continues to plummet.
Is it time for you to move out of your state? After reading this article you might find yourself looking at property in a new state over the weekend. All the power is in your hands. Don’t let these twisted states control your 2nd Amendment rights!
Look, this is a clear victory for the 2nd Amendment in America. It doesn’t mean that it is a flawless victory. However, when the right to keep and bear arms is being CONSTANTLY infringed, this makes a huge difference.
It’s a boon for preppers. Period. The benefits will be huge for the average prepper.
I think as prepper’s we should support and promote a well-informed and well-trained gun culture that appeals to all gun owners.
A well-armed and well-trained society is an absolute nightmare for leaders with tyrannical aspirations.
Ending this article, I highly recommend this book to everyone. 300 pages, color, paperback. The Lost Book of Remedies is helping Americans achieve medical self-sufficiency even in the darkest times using the time-tested methods of our grandparents without spending lots of money on toxic drugs and without side effects. A great asset when doctors and hospitals won’t be available any more given the current situation. You may not be Claude Davis, but you can make use of his procedures and techniques to increase your chances of survival!
